A tier one automotive molder asked Innovation to provide a joining and inspection system for automotive interior trim parts. Innovation provided for the ultrasonic welding of the assembly achieving a significant reduction in the per unit cost over the old joining method using adhesives.
Since an operator manually assembled some of the components, part quality was also a serious ongoing issue. Innovation integrated a multi-camera vision inspection process that acts as a quality assurance gateway ahead of the welding process to ensure the completeness and correct assembly of the part prior to the assembly being welded.
